Charcoal Reversal

May 21, 2009

An exercise in seeing values, edges, and shapes.  I worked from a photograph and feel bad that I dont have the artist name on hand.  I started with an all black page and erased the white areas.  Took about 50 hours total.

my attempt and the original:

The shape distortion came from a slighty curled page when I photographed it.  Mine could be a bit sharper and could use finer detail in the background but overall I came pretty close.   I’m proud of this peice but I’ve looked at it so much I dont care to see it again!

Spring 2009 Art

May 19, 2009

This well neglected blog will be rewarded today, for it will be showered with new art.  I have been so busy with school and work, but now that the semester is out, I get to share with you all the fruits of my labor.

Comic Strips and Sketchbook pages:

The last page is actually a story board for a short animation I created in Maya, which is here: on my computer, because WordPress wont let me upload videos unless I UPGRADE.  you can check it out on my facebook.

and Speaking of Comic Strips, check out the new online Web comic, MushApartment ! Created by my colleague Jay Hasrajani, I have the pleasure of being a regular artist come summer time.  Which is now! http://www.mushapartment.com/index.php

And finally, my summer plans:

Dance
Bike
Fight
Paint
Watch movies
Play Videogames
Stretch
Swim

Drop a comment if you would like to join one one or more of said activities

Stay tuned for :
-More Art!
-Kittens
-Dancing!

Works in progress

July 2, 2008

My results so far on teaching myself on digital mediums.

The Seeds

Photoshop, Flash, Wacom tablet.

using acrylics in watercolor style is a great way to save paint.  I always thought cards lacked sincerity, because its not you saying those witty passages, its the card,  and for some cards, they will even do the singing for you.

In other news,  Afrikaa Bambaataa at Temple in San Francisco was dissappointing.  Our journey getting to the city was more interesting.  Point – mints are a costly distraction while driving.   Navigating the road versus reaching for mints -  mints win.  We missed the last exit to San Francisco and end up crossing the bridge to Oakland.  “$4 dollar stupidity fee”

At the venue we are surrounded by well beautified female facades, and convince a friend that was leaving to come back in with us.  Second round is always better with the right company.  Witnessed how not to dance in a cypher, great job drunk frat guy.

I come home around three to find my sisters kitten sleeping on my bed.  Its now awake and rambunctious.

Also, never sleep in the same room with a kitten.

Congratulations

Krugzugen collective threw its first succesful event, “Trade your Thugs for Hugs”!  Spent a lot of money but I think it was worth it. I got smashed, which I wasn’t planning to do. Thanks everyone who came and had a good time, Thanks to Goldenboy for helping out.  Thanks to DJ Ilo for being gracious to provide the tunes, and thanks to Ray for having a cool pad we can party at.  And special thanks to the guy who busted a hole in the door.  I don’t have any pics because I was too busy dancing and drinking but the next morning I took a pic of the guestbook:
